Presented by Porsche AG and Lucasfilm Ltd. at the December film premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in Los Angeles, Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus Starfighter is designed as a fantasy starship that has the design DNA of those two brands. The initial ideas and drafts are created over a period of two months before it finally comes with a concrete concept. This fantasy starship is a detailed model measuring 1.5 meters (5 feet) in length.
The spaceship design is integrated into the Star Wars film world and it also demonstrates clear analogies with the characteristic Porsche proportions and styling. The visual parallels with the iconic design of the 911 and the Taycan come from a highly distinctive topography from the cockpit flyline to the turbines and the basic shape of the cabin which tapers towards the rear. It is a great collaboration to merge the aesthetic design of Star Wars and Porsche.
The details of Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus Starfighter can reveal some familiar features from the Porsche design style. The front part is “air curtains” that go together with headlights, creating a single formal entity in the Taycan. The rear grid with the integrated third brake light and louvers is inspired by the current 911 generation while the starship rear section bears the brand’s hallmark light bar.
The interior is beautified with Porsche design criteria such as aligned instruments in the cockpit, low seating position that reminds of the sporty ergonomics in the Porsche 918 Spyder. All designs of Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus Starfighter follow the basic principle from the brand characteristic with all elements on the exterior that have a clear function and visual features that have been dispensed largely.
